Genesis.Pages
is a revolutionary web based program that allows publishers
to create magazines in a virtual environment.
Designers, writers and advertising sales can all track
and plan titles from inception to proofing and to final
PDF.
Users simply need a broadband Internet access, a PC
or MAC to connect to a central server which maintains
all the various components which go to make-up a magazine.
This means that staff can be positioned anywhere and
with the huge growth of home workers and freelancers,
allows publishers to reduce their fixed costs dramatically
without losing control of their titles.
The core of the system is a powerful MSSQL backend
database which records, stores and tracks changes to
editorial, advertising and production. With the ease
of use of a browser based interface users can quickly
upload, download and monitor the progress of a title.
Integrating seamlessly with the partner program Genesis.Ads,
and Gensis.Copy advertising and editorial staff can
plan and view pages as they become assigned, planned
and completed. It also allows for online proofing of
pages to speed the production cycle and cut down on
proofing errors.
With the add-on of Genesis.COPY, Editors and writers
can upload copy, pictures and pages which will then
send an email alert to the designer who knows there
is work awaiting completion.
Images and graphics are re-sized and scaled “on
the fly” and PDF transfer to SWF files for digital
publications is totally automated.
Proofs of pages are then stored on the system and then
downloaded by editorial so that corrections can be made
quickly and easily.
The final completed title is then collated as PDF for
delivery by FTP or disk transfer. And then archived
for later retrieval.
